Throughout the 5-year architectural education journey, Ooi Wei has grown a lot as a student, as well as a member of the society. With people as the main concern, Ooi Wei has emphasised the relationship between human and space in her designs to amplify the sense of belonging to a place. She strongly believes that a well-designed place is one that not only provides what the people need, but also allows them to grow within it.
Penang Performing Arts Centre
Waterfront Theatre and Academy

Located at the waterfront of Penang Esplanade, the proposed Penang PAC is an integrated scheme with three main components, i.e. performing venues, academy, and public spaces aiming to regenerate the area. With the concept of Urban Artscape, it is an urban vista for social interaction, bringing people closer to each other while being exposed to our performing arts culture. A research was done on inclusive placemaking that focuses on performing arts to reconcile the new urban communities with this historic and cultural heart of George Town, as well as to revive the place as an urban space full of cultural character.
Sustainable Housing
Bukit Malut, Langkawi
Master Plan and Building Design
Located at Bukit Malut, Langkawi, this 55.4-acre mixed housing development proposal is a nature-inspired sanctuary surrounded by water and lush tropical greenery.Â
Resembling the veins of nature, the "Green River" flows across all living components, establishing a strong connection between living and nature. The amphibious pathway gradually leads to the social and recreational heart of the neighbourhoods with a diverse park system that connects the community to the region's landscape heritage.
