Honourable Mention, International Bamboo Structure Competition 2019,
Nansha Bird Park, Guang Zhou
We were one of the two teams that represented Malaysia at The 2nd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area-Association of Southeast Asian Nations International Colleges Design & Construction Competition 2019. We involved in all stages of the project, from design development to on-site material selection and construction at Nansha Bird Park, Guang Zhou, China.
The theme of this Construction Competition is “ [ Not Only | Dynamic ] Bamboo Corridor ”. We were required to design and build a bamboo corridor that blends with the scenery of the park with its unique functions and not just for decoration. On the other hand, it is an endless bamboo corridor that has endless lighting dynamics and endless number of people passing by. It is imagined as the extension of bamboo corridor that lasts forever.
THE MUSICAL INSTRUMENT OF THE PARK:
A BAMBOO BRIDGE THAT RESONATES WITH THE SYMPHONY OF NATURE
Sounds create dramatic shifts according to real-time inputs such as the weather and the time of the day, creating different ambience at all times. Besides, sounds of the nature are a natural detox that helps people to achieve instant relief from stress, which is an important aspect in our lives especially in urban areas.
Our design employs the sounds of nature as the main dynamic element, with design features that gather and amplify the sounds from the natural habitat in Nansha Bird Park.
